“Charlie” as she likes to be called, is basically a self-taught quilter. Born in
Las Cruces, New Mexico, she has been quilting off and on since she was 12 years
old.
She just made do with what was available that is until the early 80’s when she
got fed up with not being able to find the “calico” fabrics (you older quilters
will remember that was all you would dare put in a quilt!) and notions she
wanted and needed to make her creations.

Note: Just so you know, I plan to have more than 7 techniques
in your workbook. Some of them we won’t have time to do in class, but you will
have fabric, notions and instructions to complete them at home. I could just
include 7 things, but I think all of the techniques are valid. We will complete
the ones in class that need the most explanation and assistance. The others are
pretty straight forward and can be worked on between other samples as you have
time or at home later. I know that look in the eyes of the ‘die hard sewers’ who
attend the show all week and are getting pretty tired by the last day! I hope
you agree it is a good idea for me to give you information and “homework”,
rather than just give you an incomplete workbook.
Send any comments on this to LJMessinger@yahoo.com or call 775-853-2207 if you
have any questions or concerns. I look forward to seeing you soon. Lyla
