Marbling & Painting on Fabric Using Tsukineko Inks

Are you looking for something different in fabrics? Would you like to design
your own fabric? Are you interested in selecting your own colors and textures?
Why not join us and learn to marble your own fabrics? We have now prepared a
class which will teach you two different ways to marble fabric. You will also
learn how to use inks to color fabric and prevent bleeding, techniques for
creating your own border fabric, ways to expand your stash and add colors
missing from fabrics and so much more. You will no longer be limited to using
fabric off the rack.
Quilters Treasure will share with you how their one of kind marble fabric is
created. Learn about the products used by the professionals and become familiar
with supplies, what to do and what not to do. Why do paint colors react
differently and how they affect each other. This is a chance to ask questions &
get answers from the professionals.
Due to the nature of the commercial products we have devised a way you can
experience the joy of marbling without the mess. You will be able to try your
hand with marbling on shaving cream; use Aloe Vera and other simple products to
prevent bleeding; use inks, ink pens & stamp pads to create. At home you will be
able to use either technique, paints or inks, the choices are up to you.
Bring to class:

Bring latex gloves if you don’t want to get ink on your hands. (Ink is water
based and cleans up with soap & water)

stirrer from fast food restaurant, popsicle stick or similar tool, small paint

Nuno Felting
((Silk and Wool to create unbelievable fabric)
Nuno Felting is the Japanese word for Fabric. By manipulating a minimum amount
of wool fiber through a fine base weave we could make a felted fabric with
characteristics quite different from traditional felt. Nuno felt is lightweight
with drape and flexibility.
There are many possibilities for transparency, exciting texture, and creativity.
This wonderful seminar focuses on this technique also known as laminated
felting. Barbara will spend this time with you, showing step by step the Nuno
felting process, to create beautiful lightweight garments and accessories.
Laminating wool and silks together sounds like a mismatch but it unfolds into
lovely garments that can be embellished with beads, buttons, embroidery, needle
felting and more.
This is a great educational opportunity for everyone no matter what your sewing
or felting levels are. There will be models on hand and a discussion on the type
of silks that can be used and what else other than wool roving can be added in,
you are in for a surprise as to what you can put into this felting.

Get ready for Another play date with Barbara, she will guide you through the
process of designing your own fabric pieces using all kinds of fun stamps,

She will create all kinds of groovy prints by
removing the color to create a printed fabric. Removing color using discharge
paste and a steam iron, adding new colors using paints and dyes, not only to
create your very own one of kind fabric pieces but, to create a palette of
designs for needle felting as well, both flat surface and dimensional this
includes demos on how to do both of those needle felting techniques.
The
students will learn to rushce dupioni, outprint it using pouncers and discharge
paste, then using dye sticks to color in the outprints. A How to on Faux
Chenille as another dimension to add on and silk threads for needle felting
appliqué’s that can be added. The reversible purse is a quick sew once the
fabric has been designed. The reversible purse is only the beginning; Barbara
will also have clothing items that these techniques can be used on. Models on
hand.

Sue started sewing at the age of 10 in 4-H. Her first project was a dress and
got a white ribbon. Her mother wouldn't let her wear it out of the house.
Luckily.....she's gotten better.
Embellishment has always been her passion; she
is the former owner of Sue's Sparklers. Having sold that business, she got bored
and started another. 'Green' is the name of the game, so she is using the sun to
print fabric and to create screenprints. Join her in this new fascination. |
